West London Story Forums Summaries: Having a Voice (23rd Feb, Lighthouse)

1. Voice
How can people have a voice, and making it a clear opportunity that people can have a voice with an undenying agenda of opening up possibilities for those whose voices are not often heard?

2. Diversity
Working to an awareness of diversity in its widest elements, not everybody can hear, see or move as well as involving people from west London’s wide mix.

3. Music
West London is the heart of so many musics; hippy, rock, unusual pop, African, reggae, Latin, Asian – each musician has a story to tell

4. Work in many Diverse Media
Combining still and moving images, spoken word, different performance genres and possibly create event representing stories in mixed art forms

5. Timeframe
Discussions around the scope of the stories – whether from way back in time and forward to later in the century, or more immediate, direct experience informed by people’s past, working possibly with family groups spanning ages and generations. Making sure to reach across all ages.

6. Participants
To include working to strengths, e.g. schools, arts forums, existing centres plus important to reach those not always included.

7. Platforms
Radio in all its formats e.g. RSL for the duration, internet/ podcasts and You Tube. It is vital to document and report the stories so that if an event happens it also has a tangible existence and the stories have a life on open access media.

8. Process
For the stories – interviews, workshops, documenting
