West London Story Forum Summaries:Participation and Journeys (27th Feb, Willesden Green Library Centre)

Leader: Amy Sharrocks

Key points of discussion:

We talked about how to involve different kinds of people – old age and children, unemployed – people who don’t usually get involved
We have to go out to different centres and schools to get them involved
We wanted to invite them into a space for games – where they can share their own, and join together. We wanted to use spaces in an unusual way – council estates, cemeteries; and for people to use unusual skills – old people to skip for hopscotch, kids to teach, etc.

The other side of our discussion was to with how to record the moment that we create, and keep it as some live log rather than a piece of dead writing – some kind of life recording of songs or co-authoring stories like Chinese Whispers.

Key Actions

• Liam Cahill will email the group re. meeting within two weeks to discuss the ideas further and perhaps apply for bursary or to evolve the piece further.
• That a Western Wedge social network space (e.g. Facebook) be created from all three forums.
