THE BURSARIES

The West London Story is a major new cultural programme for West London and underpins the West London Partnership for the 2012 Games Cultural Olympiad.

The programme was launched last September and has already begun to engage artists and arts organisations through ideas forums held at the start of the year. The project has now awarded four bursaries to enable artists to develop their ideas further:

Constantine Gras: A three year project telling the story of West London’s waterways

Liane Lang: An investigation of the history of artists’ studios in West London

Ray Rankine: A moving temporary structure which depicts movement through West London

Cecile Trijssenaar: A video installation that interprets the Olympic creed through the stories of people from the 205 Olympic nations that have made their home in West London

Each artist is being supported by the arts team in a Western Wedge borough, and each will show some work in progress around the Open Weekend, Friday 24th to Sunday 26th July 2009.
