Film Screening: ‘Small birds sing when winter’s over’

‘Small birds sing when winter’s over’ is a film directed by Rizwana Hamid that investigates how prejudice, forced evictions and temporary housing still marginalise Gypsy and Traveller children, and how parents are trying to balance the rights of their children with that of their way of life.

Film screening on Thursday 20th November, at the Kensington Central Library.  The screening will be Introduced by Rose Palmer, the Kensington and Chelsea’s Gypsy and Travellers Development Manager, followed by Q&A with Rizwana Hamid.

‘Small birds sing when winter’s over’ is being shown as part of the ‘Across the Street, Around the World’ season, a festival of events running in Kensington and Chelsea til the end of the year.   Find out more information about the other events, including theatre, music and dance, here.

The season will come to a joyful close with a Gospel Christmas Sing-a-long on the 12 December, with the award-winning gospel group The Kingdom Choir.
