<p class="MsoNormal">The West London Story is the major Cultural Olympiad project in West London. Delivered by the Western Wedge1 on behalf of the West London Partnership for the 2012 Games2, it aims to engage artists and arts organisations to work with residents and engage new audiences across West London in the lead up to and beyond the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span>To date, the project has supported West London artists to develop ideas and concepts telling the stories of West London, interpreting these through a variety of art forms.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span> We are now seeking an experienced and enthusiastic project manager to design and implement the West London Story development plan which will ensure this exciting and innovative project continues to build between now and 2012 and beyond.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">You will have experience of managing projects in a partnership environment, have excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate a range of partners and have proven success of securing funding. Experience and / or an interest in culture and the arts is desirable but not essential.</p>

<p><strong>THE BURSARIES</strong></p>
<p>The West London Story is a major new cultural programme for West London and underpins the West London Partnership for the 2012 Games Cultural Olympiad.</p>
<p>The programme was launched last September and has already begun to engage artists and arts organisations through ideas forums held at the start of the year. The project has now awarded four bursaries to enable artists to develop their ideas further:</p>
<p><strong>Constantine Gras: A three year project telling the story of West London&#8217;s waterways</p>
<p>Liane Lang: An investigation of the history of artists’ studios in West London</p>
<p>Ray Rankine: A moving temporary structure which depicts movement through West London</p>
<p>Cecile Trijssenaar: A video installation that interprets the Olympic creed through the stories of people from the 205 Olympic nations that have made their home in West London</strong></p>
<p>Each artist is being supported by the arts team in a Western Wedge borough, and each will show some work in progress around the Open Weekend, Friday 24th to Sunday 26th July 2009.</p>

<p>Water - Way of Life is an art, ecology and educational project with the aim of connecting people with rivers, canals and other wetland features in West London.   Its first commission is to the artist Jo Roberts, for ‘Tales of the River Brent.’</p>
<p>For the Open Weekend, Constantine Gras, lead artist on Water – Way of Life, will showcase project plans, maps, photos and a short film. Jo Roberts will present stories, images and artefacts collected from walks along the River Brent from the Welsh Harp to the River Thames.</p>

<p>Liane Lang’s project sets out to investigate the history and traces of artists’ studios in West London. It examines the physical and psychological dimensions of the studio space and the relationship between artists and place.</p>
<p>Join a group of artists at Bradbrook House as they present talks, images and excerpts in the first stages of research for an artists’ book.</p>
